"I realize how unique my financial education has been and how lucky I am to have gotten it. I’d like to share this information with students who don’t have the same access."

From Aashi's Desk

“Financial literacy shouldn’t be a privilege. Too many teens in underserved communities grow up without learning how credit works, how to budget, or how to avoid debt.  This is not because they don’t care, but because no one ever teaches them. Money decisions made at a young age can shape our entire future, and it’s unfair that some teens get guidance while others are left to figure it out alone. Every teenager deserves access to financial education so we can make informed choices, break cycles of financial stress, and build a more equal future.”

About Aashi

Aashi is a junior in high school at Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas, with a passion for financial literacy and educational equity. Growing up in a city marked by both opportunity and inequality, Aashi has seen how access to financial knowledge can vary drastically based on a family’s circumstances. Many teens in underserved communities are expected to make important financial decisions, about jobs, college, loans, and credit, without ever being taught the basics of money management. Motivated by this gap, Aashi is committed to making financial education more accessible and relevant for teens who are often left out of these conversations. By focusing on practical topics like budgeting, saving, credit, and long-term financial planning, Aashi aims to empower students with the tools they need to make informed choices and build confidence in their financial futures. Through this work, Aashi hopes to help break cycles of financial stress and create pathways to greater opportunity for teens across underserved communities
